Some Books on Centaurs

von Heeren and Koch

Robert von Heeren and Dieter Koch have published a book on Pholus in Europe. Unfortunately, so far it is only in print in German. Here is the description as sent to me by the publisher, Reinhardt Stiehle of Chiron Verlag:
Pholus - Wandler zwischen Saturn und Neptun. Die Wende ins Unerwartete.
(Pholus - Wanderer between Saturn and Neptune. The Turn to the Unexpected)
310 pages, Hardcover, 25 illustrations, Ephemerides 1900 - 2025, ISBN 3-925100-20-2
DEM 49,80 (+ DEM 5.- postage and package)

I don't know how much that is in US funds, but you can write to Mr. Stiehle and ask. It is a beautifully bound book, well written. I can't wait for the English translation, though, because my German is quite rusty (I took German in high school.)
By Mail, write to: Chiron Verlag, Postfach 1131, 72109 Moessingen, Germany

Chiron Verlag is also the publisher of the German version of my book, Essence and Application: A View From Chiron, which they translated as Wendepunkt Chiron: Essenz und Anwendung

Pholus Book

You can check out the Pholus book here, and if you explore a little, you can even order a copy of my book, Essence & Application, in German!

The CPA Press has published Saturn, Chiron and the Centaurs: To the Edge and Beyond by Melanie Reinhart. It is available for sale at the CPA Website. The press release included the following:

"This unique compilation presents new material concerning the orbit cycle of Chiron, and a summary and elaboration of astrological research to date on Pholus, the second Centaur. In addition, preliminary original material on the meaning of the third Centaur, 1992HA2, "Nessus" is included, in print for the first time."

I've just finished reading this book, and there is a lot to ponder! Some of Melanie's insights into Nessus include:
"The bargains we make with the dead....those bargains which are sealed unconsciously, and thereby can become very poisonous....If we are unconsciously trying to get free from something we don't even know we are held by, it can indeed have very destructive spin-offs in our relationships."
She equates it with teaching us how to recognize that some people seem to magnetically drain energy from others, and how some people seem to make others feel energized.
She sees it as an expression of the various metaphors using the word burning....burning with hatred, shame, anger. And she links Nessus to the phrase 'bad blood.'
Melanie quotes Dieter saying Nessus represents "A process where and how we develop more integrity, power over ourselves, more identity and character."

Martin Lass has published several books on Chiron, which he has now combined in the volume Chiron: Healing Body & Soul. You can read all about it here:

CHIRON: The Wisdom of a Deeply Open Heart is by Martin Gainsburg, and it is a remarkable book. It includes a look at the meaning of Chiron's glyph; Chiron through the signs and houses; in depth examinations of the sacred wound, the medicine, the broken-open heart and the medicine-walk archetypes; the karmic implications of Chironic placement; Chiron retrograde; and the popular article, "The Chiron-Moon Connection.":

Piotr Piotrowski has published a beautiful book on Chiron entitled Przeslanie Chirona, but unfortunately for me it is written in Polish. If you are able to read that language, you may be interested in reading his book, or some of his articles:

Chiron w astrologii

Darrelyn Gunzburg draws upon the Centaurs, both astrologically and mythologically, to help us find our way through the grief of loss, and emerge with a new understanding and focus. You can read all about it here:
